Classic Yamahas at Steel City Classics

If it's a classic Yamaha you're after, you're among friends. Steel City Classics stocks collectable Yamahas at our showroom on Sheffield Road, Unstone, midway between Sheffield and Chesterfield, with UK wide delivery on every bike we sell.

No marque owns British biking nostalgia quite like Yamaha. The FS1-E gave a generation its first taste of the road, the RD250 and RD350LC turned every A road into a race track, and the XT500 started the big trail bike movement single handedly. Then there are the four strokes: XS650s, the RD500LC for the brave, and the nineties sports bikes now marching into classic territory. Our current stock makes that last point for us, with a 1991 FZR1000 EXUP, five valves per cylinder and a genuine landmark machine, at money that won't stay this sensible for long.

Why buy your classic Yamaha from a specialist?

The best classic Yamahas, particularly the two strokes, have been restored, crashed, tuned and rebuilt more times than most owners will admit, so knowing what original actually looks like matters. Every Yamaha we sell is assessed and prepared in our own workshop, described honestly, and stands on more than fifty years of combined experience in the classic bike trade.

Part exchange is always welcome, whether you're trading up from a modern bike or moving between classics. And if the Yamaha you want isn't here today, tell us; LCs, Fizzies and good XTs pass through regularly, and we're happy to keep your name against the next one.

Classic Yamaha questions we're often asked

The RD350LC is the definitive one, with values to match its cult status, and the RD500LC sits above it as the exotic choice. Original FS1-Es make remarkable money for a moped, early XT500s are firmly established, and clean examples of the first FZRs and EXUPs are the smart buys of the moment.
Yes. We buy good classic Yamahas outright and also offer a sale or return service if you'd rather we handled the sale for you. Start with our Sell Your Bike page or give us a call.
One of the most sensible there is. Bikes like the FZR1000 EXUP are usable, reliable and still affordable, parts support is good, and values are heading in the right direction. You get a classic you can actually ride, and our workshop can look after it when it needs attention.
