Classic Kawasaki KZ1000 for sale in Chesterfield

RDM-    ZV
The fifth bike in the collection, RDM-ZV, is based on a 1978 Kawasaki Z1000.
The idea is to take a 1970`s classic Kawasaki Z1000 and bring it up to date improving the braking, handling and looks while still keeping everything that made the Z-range so iconic. A classic restomod!
The standard frame has been modified to take the earlier Z1 body set and discreet frame strengthening has been welded in place in strategic places. The whole lot then powder coated in Satin black.
Triple S coating finished off the wheels and the rear swingarm. New tubeless tyres have been fitted, front and rear.
Bespoke yokes have been made to fit the Z1000 frame but enabling the fitment of 43mm ZRX1200 forks. In fact, the whole front end and rear end are from the ZRX1200 models from the mid 2000`s.
This enables the use of smaller, wider 17 inch wheels so that wider modern tyres can be fitted. Only small modifications are required to fit the ZRX swingarm to the STD Z1000 frame but the original exhaust mounts have to be removed.
The front forks are fully rebuilt with all new seals and bushes.
All new brake discs are fitted along with the refurbished 6 piston brake callipers up front and the twin piston calliper at the rear. A Nissin radial front master cylinder is fitted along with braided brake hoses. This will ensure up to date braking, a vast improvement on the original system.
RDM-ZV is fitted with YSS adjustable twin shock absorbers.
All new electrics, switches and lighting are fitted along with an up to date LED headlamp and a combined regulator/rectifier unit. Clocks are refurbished by Z meter specialist, Al Marshall.
The paintwork was designed and painted by Kev Porter at specialist painters Dream Machine. All the body work including the tank is new as is the badges, cap and tap. The design is in the classic 1973 style with a twist on the yellow and green colours of the original Z1.
The “Tuck and Roll” custom seat is from PMC in Japan.
A standard short rear chrome fender is fitted to add to that classic 1970`s look.
The motor is mainly in standard specification, the only major update being a rebore to the cylinders using a 1030cc high compression piston kit. All new cam chain, tensioners, bearings and valve gear have been fitted. A 16mm offset front sprocket is fitted to allow the use of the much wider rear wheel. Engine specialist “The Head Shop” in Warrington took care of the skimming of the head along with K-lining of the valve guides and re-cutting of the valve seats. They also carried out the rebore of the cylinders. The engine finish is a comination of a coated black and a natural silver finish, vapour blasted, polished and then with a clear ceracote protective covering. Other modifications include an oil temperature gauge and an electronic ignition system.
The exhaust is a black NITRO ceramic coated steel racing system from Japan and the carbs are Mikuni Rs34 Flatsides. These carbs are new, modern and improve performance.
PMC in Japan are responsible for some of the trick bits, like the rearsets, engine mounts, clutch, seat, and the sculptured outer engine covers.
28mm FAT bars are fitted with standard switchgear to keep that classic look. Obviously all cables, rubbers, seals, bearings and fasteners are also new, being supplied by Kawasaki parts specialist Z-Power.
